While I was visiting my bestest buddy/sister by choice in Maryland, Gabe and I were in the planning phases of Echo of Connections. We were not sure we could find guests who would be willing to chat with us.
Divine province showered me with opportunities to explain our podcast mission. As I explained to anyone who would listen, we are on a quest to find ways to help ourselves through the issues and traumas that have caused us problems in our lives. Some of the problems are the same for the people I work with in law enforcement and for our families. Those problems affect our relationships, our families, and our lives. We are finding people who share their problems and solutions they have found. Helene Dubov agreed to guide us through the EMDR process as an introduction to a possible solution.
Helene Dubov was recommended to me by a dear friend, who works with kids, as a wonderful educator and speaker on EMDR therapy. Helene has over 28 years of experience working with clients using EMDR therapy with her process of getting to the very root of an individual's source of trauma. She set out, with Gabe and I, on a new format for us of interviewing over Zoom. Helene was a true gift and even endured some technological issues in the middle of our recording.
Gabe and I learned so much from Helene. We use her framework (tapping on our thighs left & right) and language (her definintion of trauma) as part of our podcast interviews and personal discussions. We hope you find a kernel, a nugget, or even a boulder's worth of insight for your own journey.
