DrEvelyn is an award-winning author, lecturer, radio program host, and motivational speaker and she is the granddaughter of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. One of the goals of Dr. Evelyn Bethune is to train faith leaders on connecting our ancestral history to the strength of our purpose and our faith. “It is essential for our people to KNOW our history and that it did not begin on a plantation as enslaved Africans. “You cannot teach what you don’t know. We cannot depend on others to teach and train us to be free” Our DNA has great power, and we must claim our space in a world bent on writing us out of history”. Using the legacy of her own grandmother Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and a family of community servants as examples is a commitment to ensuring that the history of Black ancestry and the great accomplishments throughout the world of Black people will never be forgotten.
Dr. Evelyn is the author of several books, among them is the award-winning Bethune: Out of Darkness into the Light of Freedom which tells the story of her grandmother, Dr, Mary McLeod Bethune from a very personal family perspective. Her book, Call & Response refers to the Black church “Call & Response” of lining hymns and scriptures. She uses the Last Will and Testament of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune as the Call with the Response of the grands, great-grands, and great-grandchildren. Can You Hear Me Now is a collection of essays and blogs written by Dr. Evelyn for various platforms and cover topics from faith to politics from love to forgiveness with many taking a close introspective look through the eyes of the author. DrEvelyn has also collaborated in several compilations, The Queens Legacy, Choose Purpose over Fear and just recently released, A Mother’s Heart just in time for Mother’s Day. Her writings continue with a new release expected in September of 2023, entitled, The Bethune Blueprint: Transform Your Life Using Lessons From Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune.
MESSAGE from Dr. Evelyn Bethune
I am so excited about my new project, History in the Making Coaching Network, Inc. This new, purpose-filled venture allows me to use the tools God gave me to assist others in knowing that greatness is in our DNA. I am excited about it not just because it puts order to what I was called to do, but because I get to step outside of the box that I have found myself in for the past few years. As the granddaughter of an American Icon, it is often difficult to have my own identity. From childhood that has been a blessing as well as a curse. With my experience in overcoming great adversity as you deal with the consequences of bad choices, bad decisions, or simply trusting the wrong people, History in the Making Coaching Network allows us to provide the tools, training, and resources to help others move into their purpose, choosing purpose over fear. Never give up and Know Your Worth so that you don’t allow your present circumstance/situation to direct your path. People will throw people away, but God never will. He values us even in the midst of our distress. As women, it is critical that we know our worth so that we can reach the heights that God has for us. Walking in our purpose requires that we know the value we bring and not allow the “fleeting moments of insanity” to overtake all that is good and wonderful in our very being. In our Master Class, Greatness is In Your DNA, we show you how to connect with the best of your gifts and activate the greatness of your purpose. This is my way of sharing all that God has protected me from and how my faith has enriched my ability to live my best life.
