E119: Byron Edgington - Advocating for Diversity in the Cockpit

Byron Edgington is a Vietnam veteran helicopter pilot, a 40-year commercial pilot, and an award-winning author. He retired from aviation in 2005, then returned to college, and received his Bachelors in English and creative writing at age 63. In 2012 was awarded The Bailey Prize in prose. His latest book PostFlight: An Old Pilot's Logbook was written with young aspiring pilots in mind, especially young women which are hugely underrepresented in the aviation world. What do you think Makes him TICK?

Experienced Owner/Editor/Author with a history of success writing & publishing in the aviation and aerospace industry. Skilled in Journalism, Newspapers, Short Stories, Book Reviews, and Manuscript Editing. I have a BA in English and Creative Writing from Ohio State. Words and their use are my passion, especially the correct words.

Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969, I trained as a helicopter pilot. After a 40 year 'gap year' I returned to college to finish my Bachelors Degree in English & Creative Writing, finishing at age 63.
