E216: Kevin Mulcahy - The essence of belonging

Kevin Mulcahy is a best-selling author, speaker and educator who describes himself as a 'Future of work evangelist". During the pandemic many remote-working employees began slip-sliding away from their organizations’ mission, culture, and values. They began losing their emotional connection to their work, their sense of purpose, and other aspects of the employee experience that are crucial to business success. In this episode, Kevin shares a tangible framework to connect to the essence of belonging and to what he calls, "The Great Reconnection".

Kevin’s expertise is identifying and framing the trends that shape the future of working and learning. Kevin is a co-author (with Jeanne Meister) of “The Future Workplace Experience”, which received the Silver Axiom Best Business Book Award for Human Resources Professionals.

Kevin specializes in delivering workshops on scaling up and ‘future proofing’ HR and business strategies. Previously, Kevin served for 6 years as the operating partner of Future Workplace. There he curated and co-hosted the Future Workplace Network, a membership community for senior HR executives and delivered the award-winning online course ‘Using AI for HR”.

Kevin joined Future workplace from Fuld and Company, a competitive intelligence research consulting firm, where he served as the head of the technology practice. Earlier in his career, he served as the director of international operations for international telecom business and held several executive roles at Sprint.

In higher education, Kevin taught part-time at Babson College for 8 years and coached on leadership effectiveness on Executive Education programs at the Harvard Business School for 3 years.

Kevin holds a Master of Business Administration from Boston College and a Bachelor’s in Management Science from Trinity College in Dublin. He has been an advisor to business leaders in Japan, Canada and the US. He is the recipient of the Community College Futures Assembly Bellwether Award.
