In this conversation with PHD Material Scientist Maria Xenidou, she shares how she transitioned (inspired by Seth Godin's work) from Corporate Executive into becoming and living of freelancing work. Now self-described as a storyteller, a blogger, a podcaster, and a change maker, she aspires to guide others through empathy and generosity to conquer the fear of change in their lives. She emphasizes the importance of slowing down and designing and creating the life that you want to live.
Maria has twenty years of international experience in B2B enterprises and has held global and regional technology, innovation, and marketing roles. She has worked in the USA, Europe, and Asia and has served a broad range of markets including automotive, electronics, general industrial assembly, consumer packaging, aerospace, footwear, medical, sportswear, and so on. As an intrapreneur, Maria has demonstrated success in driving growth by transformation in marketing and innovation in both mature and emerging markets on three continents.
She is passionate about building global cross-functional teams and strategic partnerships with customers, distributors, suppliers, start-ups and academic institutions to bring ideas to life. Since March of 2017, Maria has been advising corporations on their growth strategy through marketing, innovation, and M&A (merger & acquisition). She helps her clients identify sustainable growth opportunities in existing, adjacent and/or new markets with current and new technologies.
In late 2017, she decided to disrupt herself, become an entrepreneur and drive change in the future of learning and work. She is on a mission to provide students and professionals (at any stage of their career) with learning tools and work opportunities to empower them to design their learning journey, and build a meaningful, and sustainable career in the future.
