Episode 46: Gabriel George- The one arm archer

Gabriel George is a force to be reckoned with. Self-described as a motivational doer, Gabe shares how his life was turned upside down by a tragic motorcycle accident and how he learned to love life, again.

Gabe is a Navy veteran who experienced a motorcycle accident 10 years ago resulting in a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and complete paralysis in his right arm as well as severe nerve pain and damage throughout his body. He recently had his arm amputated. Gabe found solace from his pain through his incredible physical drive and mental determination. He is a diver, pickleballer, and more notably, an archer. He was Tokyo bound for the 2020 Paralympics before the coronavirus pandemic managed to cancel it. He catalogues his archery on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. His handles are @theonearmarcher on all mediums excepting TikTok which is @theonearmedarcher.

His training regimen involves practicing 4-6 days a week, 2-4 hours per training session, 2-3 times a days.

Gabe credits his family with giving him the will and drive to thrive and overcome. He’s also a master of visualization from living with his chronic pain, which in turn is no small part of his rapid success, as he has only been shooting for 1.5 years.

Gabe’s favorite saying is “I’m a motivational doer, not a motivational speaker.”
