Welcome to the Becoming Muse Podcast's newest sub series, "The Beauty Experience," which focuses on beauty and mental wellness. In this series, we'll talk about how social beauty standards affect the general public as well as the very real implications of the concept of beauty from the perspectives of those who have felt them firsthand.

In today's episode, Brittany McGowan, a successful model and former Miss USA contestant, joins us on this episode to discuss her view on how participating in beauty pageants affected her self-esteem and what she learnt in the process of competing. Brittany finished in the top 5 in the 2015 Annual Miss USA Pageant and afterwards worked as a model on the hit CNBC television series "Deal or No Deal."
