Act As IF You're A Boss, Before You Are A Boss

Act As IF You're A Boss, Before You Are A Boss

When I tell the story about running a marathon it starts off sounding like a joke, so there’s a White guy, a Puerto Rican, and a Black guy standing in a Home Depot.  Miguel was a customer we met at the Depot when he had an issue with his Kitchen installment. When I came out to resolve the issue I called him Carlos on several occasions while insisting I understood his situation and reassuring him I was there to help him.

To whichever he replied, no you don’t, because you keep calling me Carlos. So embarrassing.  I used to spend part of my day working out of my local DD in the evenings, editing episodes of the podcast. There was a evening supervisor, who conducted himself as a manager. He was always respectful to customers and his team, leading his team during the shift like a quarter-backer. Doing whatever was necessary to get the job done during the shift.

It was refreshing to see young people in leadership roles conducting themselves professionally. One day we got to talking about my running and he mentions that his father is runner and it’s revealed that his father is Miguel.  Jon was the epitome of what it means to act as if. He treated the DD like he was the owner, not barking out orders, but taking care of his customer, associations and paying attention to details.  Jon is now the owner of his own shop Prodigy Cutz Hair Studio congratulations wishing you all the best in your entrepreneurship journey.

Oh yeah I haven't mentioned my Ko-fi page.  The launching of my Ko-fi page is me embracing my talents, this is me walking in my purpose, this is me taking the leap, acknowledging that what I'm doing is providing a valuable service for the audience, the guest and the sponsors.  BTW Podcast is a Black owned  business.

I took the leap 4years ago to drive for Uber/Lyft Full-time, so I could have the flexibility to devote to building BTW Podcast.  Ko-fi is platform that will allow entrepreneurs/business owners to sponsor an episode PRE, MID or POST roll, it also allows you to buy me a cup of coffee.

Thanks for accompanying my on this ride.  Leave a voicemail to let us know how we’re doing and receive a shout out in a future episode.
