UINC. is 10 years in the making, yup, you read that correctly 10 years, a whole decade. When I typed that sentence and saw it on the screen, I had questions, so I know you must have a few questions. Why did it take so long to produce UINC.? What is UINC.? And why should I care about it? Those are fair questions.
My life 10 years ago was nothing like it is now, for one thing, I wasn’t a runner, content creator, or podcaster-I just worked. That’s all I knew, its what I saw my father do. The tagline growing up Oxley was: “Play around if you want to, I brought you all to this country to get an education and then I going back home.” This should be read with Bajan accent. There had to be more to life, then going to school, getting an education so you could get a good job-it didn’t make sense to me.
My father’s words caused me to grow up “fast and fearful,” fearful of being alone in this world, but it also drove me to get up and go get “IT.” Whatever, “IT” was I knew “IT” wasn’t going to come knocking on my door to come to get me. Reflecting on my childhood now, as I sit in the DD parking lot waiting for my next interview to start, I realized I was a pretty serious kid, who enjoyed conversations with adults.
The delay can be summed up in two words, “time & timing.” A seed may be dropped in your spirit or vision planted in your mind, you can see it vividly and you may want to reach out and grab it immediately, but you can’t because it's not fully formed yet. You may get frustrated along the way and wonder why is it taking so long for your dream to turn into a reality.
The worst is watching other people blow up around you’re stuck wondering when is it going to be your turn. There may even be a temptation to abandon plan all together or look for a short cut-don’t scrap the plan or look for an escape hatch-stay the course. I’ve been there done that, purchased and I have no plans on going back. This is an excerpt from my ebook, you can view the entire book by clicking the link UINC. Magazine
