Chris Hutchins from All the Hacks had three days to come up with and launch a podcast. Not only did he launch, but Chris has been "doing the work" and growing his show ever since. Learn how Chris expertly pitches himself to podcast hosts, securing over 50 guest spots and leveraging testimonials to boost his reputation.
Chris said, "More often than not, it was me listening to 1 to 10 of their episodes and crafting a pitch that was very, very, very relevant to their show and doing so much work ahead of time that I would almost hand them the interview guide so that they were like, "Wow, having you on is going to be really easy. "
Some strategies he shared in our Podpage Community meetup included:
-
Email everyone you know when you launch - EVERYONE.
-
If you're going to be a guest on a show, listen to a bunch of episodes (Chris listened to 10 before appearing)
-
Ask your audience to share it with their friends. If you're unsure what your call to action should be, this should be your default.
-
Get creative when pitching guests - make it easy to say yes. This requires work, but the goal is to get to a YES, and Chris makes it impossible to say no.
-
Affiliate links are a great way to monetize when you start.
-
Podpage short links provide insights for sponsors. Shortlinks in Podpage also reinforce your brand. see video
-
Send potential listeners to a specific episode that matches their needs.
-
Don't wait to start building your podcast audience. You can start before you launch.
