The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind is a classic book in the field of social psychology. Since its publication in 1895, it has been translated into about 20 languages. In this book, the author examines the unique psychology of crowds, and in particular makes a penetrating comparative analysis of the different psychological characteristics between individuals and crowds. The author Gustave Le Bon is a famous French social psychologist and the founder of crowd psychology. He is known as “the Machiavelli of the mass society theory’. His works include The Psychology of Peoples, The French Revolution and the Psychology of Revolution, and The Psychology of the Great War. The book we are introducing today is his most famous work. His works greatly influenced scholars like Freud and Jung, as well as political figures such as Roosevelt, Churchill, and Charles de Gaulle.
