You probably are familiar with company performance. But what affects performance? Is it the corporate culture, customers, values, or managers? If what affects performance is a factor that is known for certain, then why is our company performance not improved after implementing the same strategies that top companies such as Toyota and Starbucks use as revealed in various management books? In fact, factors that affect performance are uncertain. We are often misguided by business delusions, thinking that we operate in a world of certainties. So, what are these delusions? And how can we improve performance in a world of uncertainty?

Phil Rosenzweig holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He taught at Harvard for six years and worked at Hewlett-Packard for seven years. He is a consultant for well-known companies such as Microsoft, Renault, and Accor. Having worked for 25 years in management, he found that many managers lacked independent thinking. Therefore, he started to study the reasons for excellent performance to reveal the delusions behind excellent performance in order to help managers understand and improve performance.
