Pixar, the producer of WALL·E, had a difficult path to development. Pixar’s glory is similar to the outcome of colliding “tectonic plates”. One of the plates symbolizes artistic pursuit resulting from the pressure of innovation. The other plate symbolizes the pressures of trying to survive in the real world and dealing with aspects like financing, the box office, and production speed. How did a talented and artistic team, but also being one ridden with heavy debt, quickly develop into a creative empire with a market capitalization of 6 billion U.S. dollars?

The author of the book is Lawrence Levy, one of the five founders of Pixar. He joined Pixar at Steve Jobs’ invitation, as the vice president and chief financial officer in 1994, and later joined the board of directors. Lawrence Levy was one of the main contributors to the acquisition of Pixar by Disney for the price of 7.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2006. Steve Jobs believed that many key strategic decisions were the outcome of terms negotiated by Lawrence Levy and himself.
