Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the first episode of Boomer podcasters.
This is the podcast where I am going to show you and tell you at the same time, usually how to start a podcast.
If you're a baby boomer, a Gen X, a Gen Y, a Gen Z, and anybody, I don't care who you are, if you want to start a podcast, I want to be here to help you do that.
Now, my name is gray haired Dave.
I have a company called Gray Hair Productions.
I have another podcast out there called five minutes with gray hair Dave, which is just me rambling about whatever I feel like rambling about today.
But hey, I've got a bunch of them out there.
I've also done a couple other podcasts, and I have been doing this for over five years now.
I'm not going to come on here and tell you, hey, I am the best guru you're ever going to find.
That's not my, that's not what I'm here to do for you folks.
What I'm here to do for you is help you get ready and get started.
I want you to think about, especially if you're a baby boomer, what are you going to do when you retire?
What are you going to do before you, before you retire?
Are you going to just sit around a house or play cards or pickleball or what?
I live in Florida, folks.
Pickleball is kind of big down here.
But why not start a podcast and let the knowledge you have, the knowledge you have gained through all your years, and if you're not an older person, you're not a baby boomer.
And maybe you're somebody new who wants to start a podcast.
Why not show them how it goes right from the very beginning, right?
Or whatever you're passionate about.
I know folks out there that are very passionate about golf.
You could start a podcast about golf.
You know, all you've got to do is think, is this something I want to try?
Is this something I think I should do or could do?
And the answer is, yes, you can.
I am here to tell you, as a professional editor for video and audio, and I consider myself a podcaster.
You can do this.
Now, I'm not going to say just because I do it, you can do it even though you can.
And again, there's all kinds of gurus out there going to tell you this, that and how they're.
How to monetize, how to.
I'm here to tell you right off the bat, folks, if you're here just to monetize this, you might be in the wrong place, you might be in the right place, but that's further on down the road.
So many people think, hey, I'm going to get into podcasting and make money.
I thought that I learned really, really fast how, how you don't.
Now, podcasting is not that expensive.
I want to tell you and show you, because there will be videos going along with this.
At the same time, I want to show you what equipment you're going to need to get started and how easy it can be.
You can start with your phone if you want to.
Today's phones, you know, your cell phone have more computing capacity than we had 20 years ago.
How to choose, what kind of a genre that you want to go into?
Do you want to go into true crime?
Do you want to go into reality?
Do you just want to talk?
Do you want it to be about sports?
Do you want it to be.
There are so many to choose from.
Once you do that, I'm going to teach you how to record and how to record well.
How to talk well, not just good, but well.
It's very, very important that you speak right and have proper mic, our microphone awareness and usage, you know, to be here.
Then I'll talk, turn your head and talk the other way or up and down.
Gotta be attention, you know, I'm gonna walk you through those things.
What kind of microphones you need?
What kind of microphones you don't need, what kind of microphones you don't want.
I'm going to teach you.
How about hosting?
How to get it out there onto the Internet, how to get it onto the podcast apps.
I'm going to teach you all those things.
I even teach you how to do basic audio editing.
And if you want to do video, which is what I'm going to be doing on this podcast, you help you with that, too.
That's why I'm here.
So this is just a short trailer to let you know that it's coming.
Here I am again.
My name is gray hair Dave.
I've been podcasting for over five years.
I love it.
Now, that doesn't mean everybody's going to love it, but if you're listening to this, I'll bet you thought of it, haven't you?
If you are listening to any podcasts, I bet you've thought about it and said, I bet I could do that.
I got a lot to say.
I have knowledge and you do.
A gentleman that I grew up with worked for the railroad for years.
I think he retired from the railroad and I would bet he has so many great stories about working on the railroad.
And I bet that he could tell you stories that would just blow your mind and he could do this for a long, long time and really enjoy himself.
I don't know.
What about you?
Have you got something like that again?
My name is gray haired Dave.
This is Boomer podcasters.
This is here for you.
I named it this because I'm a boomer and I want to teach people how to podcast.
I want to show you how to be a podcaster.
So here we are.
I mean, that's where the name came from.
If you have any questions or concerns, please wait.
The shows are coming.
They really are.
We're starting this week to.
I'm starting to produce them, I should say.
I don't know why I keep saying we.
It's just me, but, and I'm going to show you what it's all about.
Okay?
Talk to you.
We're going to have fun with this.
And I'm going to be honest, eventually, I have a course I'm building for people who really want to get deeper into it.
But with the YouTube stuff, I'm going to be putting out and just regular podcasts, you know, you're going to learn a lot.
You're going to learn everything you really need to get going.
It's the more intense stuff that I'm going to train.
So sit back, relax, and I want you to go away from this with a little bit of a homework.
If I want you to think about this, if you could start a podcast with my help, what would you want to talk about?
Or what would you want it to be?
It could be an interview.
It could be five guys sitting around in a basement drinking beer, just chatting about football or whatever.
I'll help you with that.
So keep listening, folks.
More to come soon.
Miss Gray here, Dave, you can reach me@boomerpodcasters.com.
if you go to my website, there's going to be a little microphone in the bottom right hand corner.
It's going to say, it says, you know, leave a message.
Leave me a message there@boomerpodcasters.com.
so until such time that happens, folks, we will see you later.
I hope you think about this, and I hope that this is something you want to do.
Have a great day.
Bye.
