Your end of year generosity is crucial to achieve this goal.  Thank you in advance for your commitment to join us on this important mission to evangelize the TRUTH OF JESUS CHRIST and our CATHOLIC FAITH to the 15 million souls across the 3 dioceses of the Carolinas.  May God Bless You abundantly!

**Understanding the Difference: All Saints' Day vs. All Souls' Day**

As we move through the month of November, it's important to reflect on two significant days in our Catholic tradition: All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

**All Saints' Day** (November 1st) is a celebration of all the saints—known and unknown—who have achieved heaven. It is a day of joy and reverence, honoring their lives and the examples they set for us as models of faith.

**All Souls' Day** (November 2nd), on the other hand, is a day dedicated to remembering and praying for all the faithful departed, especially those in purgatory. It's a time to offer our prayers, intentions, and Masses for the souls who still seek purification and God's mercy.

Together, these days remind us of the communion of saints and our connection to those who have gone before us. Let us honor both the saints in heaven and the souls in need of our prayers this November!

Poland does not celebrate Halloween, but Poland sets its cemeteries “on fire” and those cemeteries are the most beautiful places to be on November 1st

1st November- All Saints’ Day and 2nd November – All Souls’ Day are days when almost everyone visits graves of their family members. The gravestones are decorated with colorful chrysanthemums in full bloom (in Poland those flowers are associated with this particular occasion) and millions of grave candles (zniczy), which symbolize the presence of God and reminds of the prayer that has been said in a moment of reflexion for those who passed before us.

November 1st is a national holiday in Poland. This special time of the year creates a very melancholic atmosphere full of spiritual contemplation about those who are not with us in this world anymore.

Dear Grandparents,

The first CGA Charlotte Chapter newsletter is linked here.  Please take a look.

One of the easiest and most natural ways to pass on the faith to your grandchild is to read to them.  It's never too early to start.  My husband and I started reading to our grandchildren when they were just a few months old. Reading stories is one of our grandchildrens and our most favorite thing to do together. Our daughter-in-law has thanked us several times for instilling the love of reading into our grandson and even his preschool teacher has commented on how impressed she is at how much he loves books.

How did we do it? We create a warm and comforting environment when we read to them.  Have small children sit on your lap and older children sit right next to you with your arm around them.  Be sure they can see the pictures and point out things in the pictures. As you read, animate the story with your voice which makes it more interesting and draws the child into the story.  Find stories that are age appropriate and that enable you to share the faith.

I have included three children's books in the Newsletter that coincide with the Liturgical calendar for the month of November - All Saints Day, All Souls Day and Thanksgiving. How do you want to be remembered? Read the book New Friends Now and Forever: A Story about the Holy Souls to your grandchild.  Our 3 year old grandson loves the story and the beautiful illustrations.  Just the other day, my daughter-in-law, who is not Catholic, recounted to me what had happened at her home the night before.  A book that my husband and I had read to our grandson had a very positive influence on him and in turn on my daughter-in-law and son, as well.  The book?  The Guardian Angel Prayer, illustrated by Maggie Swanson.

Speaking of Guardian Angels, don't forget to register for our November 9th meeting at St. Joseph Seminary in Mt Holly.  Fr. Matthew Kauth, Rector, will give us an inspiring talk about Angels.  You won't want to miss it!  Afterwards, we will all drive to Belmont,NC for lunch together at Nellie's Southern Kitchen.  Register with your name, number attending and if you will join us for lunch. Hope you can make it!

Look forward to seeing you soon!  Sts Joachim and Anne, pray for all families.
