With Ash Wednesday less than 2 weeks away we are in tremendous need of monthly tithing to help keep Charlotte’s first Catholic Radio Station AM1270 WCGC on the air through the Lent and Easter seasons. We continue to cut our monthly expenses to meet the level of annual donations and monthly pledges will allow us to pay our creditors and continue operating the radio station on a bare bone budget. Please pray for the success of this ongoing campaign to keep our Digital and Radio Evangelization efforts alive. Aside from the radio station, we continue to move forward developing our 6 other media platforms to deliver strong 3-Diocese (3-D) coverage of timely news that Carolina Catholics can use! These platforms include:
Carolina Catholic Weekly eNewsletter
Carolina Catholic Mobile App
Carolina Catholic YouTube Channel
Facebook/I-Gram/X-Twitter/LinkedIn Social Media
CarolinaCatholic.org website
Internet Streaming/Podcast & Video Library

YEAR END PLANNING
Please note that IRA’s and Retirement Plans Require Minimum Distributions (RMD’s) annually after age 72. These distributions will be taxable in the year distributed. One way to avoid your RMD from being taxed is to have your IRA ’s or Retirement Accounts contribute the RMD amount to a non-profit charitable entity.
Please speak with your financial advisor about the above and please consider a contribution to Carolina Catholic Media which is a non-profit charitable entity. Thank you and Happy New Year.

February 2 ----- Feast of the PRESENTATION OF THE LORD. Also known as CANDLEMAS, this feast commemorates three distinct but related historical events in the life of the HOLY FAMILY.
It marks the day when MARY AND JOSEPH brought Baby JESUS to the Temple in Jerusalem, exactly 40 days after His birth.
This day also commemorates the PURIFICATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY. This feast is known by the title Candlemas because of the words of Saint Simeon when he met the Child Jesus in the temple:
“FOR MY EYES HAVE SEEN YOUR SALVATION WHICH YOU HAVE PREPARED IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL PEOPLES, A LIGHT FOR REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, AND FOR GLORY TO YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL" (Luke 2:30-32).
JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, The Messiah Who has come not just for the Jew but the gentile; not just the righteous, but the sinner.
February 14 ----- is ASH WEDNESDAY The beginning of LENT, beginning of our journey of return to God.

“Worth Dying For”The Catholic Men’s Conference of the Carolinas encourages men of goodwill to join together in a diocese-wide 9 Day Novena to St. Joseph, starting on February 2nd, and ending on February 10th, the day of the conference. We will conclude and pray Day 9 of the novena, along with our Men’s Conference prayer intent, together at the conference. Novena to St. Joseph Men’s Conference Prayer Intention The building up of a band of brothers committed to intentionally placing the Deposit of Faith, and all that it shares, into the hearts and wills of our families, communities, and ultimately future generations of Catholics. This novena to St. Joseph was created for the Universal Church and first celebrated in 2020, the year of St. Joseph. Each day gracefully reflects on a particular title given to St. Joseph. St. Joseph most just pray for us, Amen. Please share the photos below, suggesting that people save them to their phones for easy reference towards saying the novena each day. Here is the direct link to the novena on the website. Please consider to include it.

Alumni Johnny O'Boyle (CCHS ‘09) spoke at @cchscougarnews about his time at Charlotte Catholic High School and then serving in the military where he began to grow deeper in his faith. He shared the importance of leaning on your faith during hard times and that there are so many ways to serve even beyond the military — by serving your community and giving back to those around you. Always grateful for our alumni community who will always be a part of our Catholic School family!

On Tuesday of Catholic School Week, HTCMS celebrated our nation. All students made "Cards 4 Troops" during social studies classes for military members at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune. This special day coincided with our virtue of the week - PATRIOTISM! We continue to play bingo each morning. Our Student Council members "call" the numbers over our PA system.

This is Catholic Schools Week! Monday of Catholic Schools Week focuses on community service. Our students donated several items to Open Arms Pregnancy Center in Hendersonville, including diapers, wipes and handmade baby quilts! The quilts were fashioned by our students last spring in Mrs. Dellinger's Fiber Arts class. Students also received a tour of the facility, including the sonogram room where expectant mothers get to see images of their preborn children.
