ST. MARK CATHOLIC SCHOOLAt St. Mark, we do everything through the lens of our faith! What does this mean? It means we have a volleyball team who, after being down last week against an undefeated team, used perseverance to battle back, forcing the game into a 3rd set. At a crucial point in the tied match, coach called a time out and the girls as a team prayed a Hail Mary. They practiced prayerfulness and humility turning to our Blessed Mother for her intercession. Ultimately, the girls won the match through their grit, determination, and willingness to ask our Blessed Mother for help! St. Mark sports are teaching our students to be virtuous leaders in all aspects of their lives. #virtuesinsports #winnersonandoffthecourt #20yearsofcatholiceducation #stmarklions

Yesterday, we celebrated World Mental Health Day. Students in AP Psychology in conjunction with the Counseling Center, hosted an outdoor lunch and respite day. Everyone enjoyed time outside with friends and fun activities in beautiful weather. Tables were set out with candy, bubbles, prayer ribbons that students placed around the courtyard, and a special visit from Beckett, the therapy dog. #ittakesavillain #bekindtoyourmind #mentalhealthday

THE OBLIGATION with Jason Murphy
Join Jason on this brand-new episode of The Obligation after summer break when he sits down with Aamir Amjad of Pakistan. Aamir is an accomplished development specialist and public policy advocate, with a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) in Peace and Conflict Studies from the National Defense University (NDU) in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has done his fellowships at the University Of Rohde Island, USA, and the International Academy of Leadership (IAF), Germany. He has held various managerial and coordination positions in Pakistan, where he has specialized in campaigning for human and minority rights, advocacy, research development, and peace and nonviolence education.
Jason and Aamir discuss the heightened religious persecution going on in his country under the abusive blasphemy laws which target Christians under false pretext. Muslims make up 98% of the population in Pakistan and the targeting of other religions with violence, threats, and false accusations are on the rise. Violations of the so-called blasphemy laws are punishable with up to ten years in prison and even death. Make sure to tune in and hear this impactful story of faith amidst persecution.
