EP #045 - EPA NOx Out Concrete

Once again, the EPA is tightening the screws on cement plants in regard to the release of nitrogen oxide.

Obviously, this impacts the concrete industry. But how?

This episode of the Concrete Logic Podcast features Peter Paone, Director of Engineering from ZAP Engineering. Peter has 21 years of experience working in the cement industry, specializing in emissions control. The discussion centers around the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Good Neighbor Rule, which aims to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions that are precursors to ground-level ozone. The Clean Air Act mandates the EPA to improve air quality, and the Good Neighbor Rule is one of the regulations they use to meet its goal. Peter and Seth also discuss other regulations such as the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and how they impact the cement industry.
