Our Business Models …After many years of sailing in various parts of the coastal USA and Canada, Shane realized that there is a tremendous opportunity for product representation in what is clearly a “transient market” collectively traveling 75,000,000 nautical miles every year, stopping every 20-50 nautical miles for overnights and very often limited in their ability to buy products outside of that “bubble”. Equally as important is that the merchants who serve this market are limited in their exposure to new products to sell.
Our business model is unique in that we conduct business both from our home base near Annapolis, MD in the summer months and sail the Atlantic Intra Coastal Waterways on our 42 Sailing Ketch KYAN II, a liveaboard vessel, from October to May stopping at ports from Baltimore to Florida where we continue to develop a blended network of contacts from Baltimore to Florida which includes dozens of merchants and sailors in many ports and anchorages.
The icwstore.com and aladofurler.com are end user websites where we also market directly; The Shane Agency is also a Manufacturer’s Representative Agency calling on B2B markets and also provides opportunities for cruisers and liveaboards to earn commissions for referral sales.
We also operate a growing You Tube Sailing Channel (over 860 subscribers) with over 15,000 views and growing. We try to feature monthly video topics about places, people and new and innovative products that we use ourselves. We leverage our Social Media presence with our vendor partners to provide innovative products through our two online websites icwstore.com ,aladofurler.com and our Facebook Group (1) The REAL most important ICW Cruisers Guide | Facebook featuring over 1000 members.
We are exhibitors in the United States Sailboat Shows and advertisers in “Latitudes & Attitudes Sailing Magazine.
