What Are Peer Recovery Specialists?

In this enlightening episode, we sit down with a group of Recovery Professionals.

A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is a professional who uses their personal experience with addiction or mental health conditions to assist others in their recovery journey. They undergo specific training and certification, which can vary by jurisdiction. They provide services like motivational support, resource linking, skills training, and crisis support, playing a vital role in helping individuals on their recovery path.

A Registered Peer Supervisor is a professional who oversees the work of peer recovery specialists or peer support workers. They provide guidance, support, ensure quality of services, and help with professional development opportunities. They often have previous experience as a peer recovery specialist, and must usually complete specific training and meet certain criteria to earn their supervisor certification. However, exact titles and requirements can vary based on location and specific regulations.
