70 Danny Rolling, The Gainesville Ripper
In 1990, Danny Rolling rolled into Gainesville FL with one purpose in mind...To kill a bunch of University of Florida students, and to be infamous like Ted Bundy. He killed 5 people over a few days, then was caught, trying to rob a Winn Dixie (Wood Duckie) grocery store.
Another man was initially arrested for the murders, but the truth was discovered thanks to a house wife from his hometown of Shreveport, LA, where he had already killed 3 people.
He had a horrible childhood, which fueled the monster that he became. His courtroom antics at his trial are comedy gold. He and a journalist, Sondra London, a known serial killer groupie began communicating and supposedly fell in love. She wrote his book for him.
Danny was also a guitarist and singer. We play one of his songs, Mystery Rider, and at the end of the episode, you'll hear Bill's heavy metal version of the song.
