Episode 8 - In Confidence / Gift of the Heart

IN CONFIDENCE

INT. STONE CORRIDOR - LIT - EVENING


[The DOOR opens to the inner chamber of the old stone church. Red and Gabriel's FOOTSTEPS ECHOES in the stone halls before entering the main chamber.]


GABRIEL (Reluctant)
“He is always in a better mood when summoned by you, Perhaps you should awaken him?”

RED
“You know that’s not true. He did wake you up first. I might give you a hard time, but I know how he values you. Walk tall, you deserve it.”

GABRIEL (Judgmental)
“Thank you for your support, even if you show it in off-handed ways.”

RED
“Here’s a little wisdom from someone your senior. No matter what it is, there is nothing that cannot be done, Gabie. If you manifest determination, you can move heaven and earth as you please.”

GABRIEL
“I do wish to achieve just that. Make the heavens shake and recognize us as the true rulers of this world.”

RED
“That we will. If we follow our Lord's plans then it might just be within our reach. There are just a few more things to do and we will be ready.”

GABRIEL
“We are here. Shall we discuss those matters after we have given our reports?”

RED
“I look forward to it.”


INT. AUDIENCE HALL - DIM LIT - NIGHT


[As Red speaks the magic words her voice has a reverb.]


RED
“Dæmones accerso regem meum. Darling, we have returned and much has happened. Will you please grace us with your presence?”


[A Deathly noise and the cracking of glass sounds as the dark lord, Doji, reveals himself].


DOJI
“I see that both of you are here. What of the other? Did she not do her part?”

RED
“Oh that she did, you could say she was overzealous, but she ensured no one saw us.”

GABRIEL (Exhausted)
“She tests my mental fortitude. It's beyond me why we must continue involving the likes of her.”

DOJI
“Your disdain for the vampiress is not unfounded. To set your mind at ease, once we awaken the remaining two generals, we’ll be in a position to.. dispose of it.”

RED
“How much longer until we can awaken the others? Gabriel awakened two centuries ago. We’ve been doing everything you taught us and yet we have found little to no trace of them! Is there a chance their souls were not reincarnated?”

DOJI
“Rest assured I have it on good authority that those souls have birthed anew. Even now, I sense the faint flow of the bloody pact coursing within. They are out there. However, I fear that somebody or some other entity together is obscuring them from us.”

GABRIEL
“Prior to Red's meeting with Black, dearest Red and myself were discussing the Fujiwaras. Unexpectedly, the ravenous scamp uttered something rather ominous regarding a lesser branch of their Clan.”

DOJI
“Oh? And dare I ask... What wisdom bore forth in its brief bout of lucidity?”

RED
“She will not speak of such things unless she was sure. We should keep watch over them. They could be the big players this time around.”

DOJI
“How fascinating! Tell me, my love, when will you be seeing our little spy again?”

RED
“We have the underground coliseum coming up in a few days. I will see her there for sure unless summoned in lieu of training. And from what I could piece together, she’ll be remaining in Darkness Falls until then.”

GABRIEL
(Venomous)
“Oh, what a shame.”

RED
“Gabriel, can you withhold your disdain for just a little while? My love I believe we still need to get on with our reports.”

GABRIEL
(Grumbling)

DOJI
“Indeed we do, though forgive me my dear, but could you give me a moment to speak to Gabriel alone? I have some minute details to discuss with him following his report first so that we may enjoy our time together as we please.”

RED
“Fine, Very well, I will go freshen up. Don’t be too long boys or I might have to come get you. I do have a big appetite and want to be sated properly.”

GABRIEL
“I can’t tell if that is a threat or a promise.”

RED
“Oh, my dear Gabe. Maybe you should wait and find out.”


[Red walks out her footsteps fade echoing out as the distance grows. The heavy wooden door creaked before closing loudly.]


DOJI
“Now that we are alone I have a special assignment that can only be entrusted to you.”

GABRIEL
“I am forever your humble servant, my Lord.”

DOJI
“Hmm, your loyalty is unwavering as always. In three days, during the skirmishes, there will be countless knocking on death’s door. You are required to bring me one of the soon-to-be corpses. I believe the time is nigh to liberate a fraction of myself and walk amongst you.”

GABRIEL (Excited)
“That is excellent news! It pleases me that you have regained such a vast amount of your strength!”

DOJI
“Shiro’s slaughter fueled me with ample enough energy in order to prepare my soul for mortal binding. A feat that was once a simple trick for one of my stature, the singular son of the greatest dragon god.”

GABRIEL
“My lord is truly powerful. I shall find you the most suitable host. One that will compliment your divinity.”

DOJI
“It pleases me that my favor is well placed. You are tasked with providing me a list of those who will be participating, adorned with portraits of those you deem worthy of me.”
(chuckles)

GABRIEL
“I shall gather the information at once, my lord.”

DOJI
“Now that we have that settled you may now proceed with your report. We must know what hands to break if we are to triumph.”

GABRIEL
“We believe that the Fujiwaras are to blame for the deception. As of yet, we are in agreement that the parents were unaware of the falsehood of their offspring.”

DOJI
“Humans are like parasites. They are a nuisance that spread through the world consuming with almost mindless appetite, with little regard for sustainability.”

GABRIEL
“Perhaps they will be their own undoing. As for the child, she had all the markings, but I should have recognized the lack of cultivation.”

DOJI
“They must have used an item that would give a false aura to mislead you. How clever of them. This new generation will be full of entrapments.”

GABRIEL
“They ought to be a bigger thorn in our side than Black and his new now how did Red put it? Ah yes, the “New Sacrifice.”

DOJI
“No matter if he has a new companion. Allow them to form a bond. That will be the last catalyst to send him into the depths of despair.”

GABRIEL
“How wise, then what Red relates to you next will be setting the stage for the slaughter. I do like the sound of that.”



GIFT OF THE HEART

[Tragedy OPENS the secret door to Drezz's secret lab in her gothic-style mansion]


TRAGEDY
“Hey there Drezz. You called and I have appeared in all my splendor. (Giggles) I put on that nightgown you left for me. How do I look?”


DREZZ DECKARD
“Seems I picked just the right one, you look breathtaking. Thank you for indulging me with my selfish request. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”


TRAGEDY
“You have never disappointed me before. I am your willing partner in crime. Do ya have something fun planned?”


DREZZ DECKARD
“Don’t I always show you a good time my little Belladonna.”


TRAGEDY
“Oh! What would my Drezziekins like to do with me tonight? We have the rest of the night to do whatever your dark heart desires.”


DREZZ DECKARD
“You know this shadow of a heart beats just for you.”


TRAGEDY
“Careful Drezziekins, if you keep saying things like that, I might just bite you. Although that’s not much of a threat now, is it?”


DREZZ DECKARD
“You do know everything I desire. Now come here so I can embrace you properly.”


TRAGEDY
“Now that sounds like some real fun, and I am oh so hungry for more of you.”


[Tragedy joins him by straddling his lap and facing Drezz]


DREZZ DECKARD
“First I have a gift for you.”


TRAGEDY
“But I thought you were my gift?”


DREZZ DECKARD
“And I am, but first I have something special for you.”


TRAGEDY
“Really! I’m so excited! (Giggles)


DREZZ DECKARD
“Tragedy…if you keep wiggling on my lap like that, I might forget all about it.”


TRAGEDY
“I’ll be good so I can be bad after.”


DREZZ DECKARD
“How is it you have captivated my heart and soul?”


TRAGEDY
“Easy, you see the real me beyond the chaos and I see you the same way. We are each other’s destiny.”


DREZZ DECKARD
“I had always considered myself to be standing outside destiny’s strings of the unsuspecting puppets. It seems even I am not immune to what is set before me.”


TRAGEDY
“Destiny may have fated us to meet, but we put in the effort to fall in love, and I am the luckiest of all to have you love me back. So don’t you ever forget that.”


DREZZ DECKARD
“That I do, now for your gift.”


[Drezz pulls out a red pendant dangling on a leather cord.]


TRAGEDY
“Thank you Drezziekinns! Ooooh it feels so warm against my skin. What’s in this thing?”


DREZZ DECKARD
“It has a bit of our essence imbued within. Now we will never truly be apart.”


TRAGEDY
“I wasn’t expecting this, thank you Drezziekins! I will always keep it with me.”


DREZZ DECKARD
“I knew you would like it."
