DBA Candidate, University of North Carolina, Charlotte
After completing a PhD in Information Technology, my decision to pursue a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) was driven by a strategic vision to position myself as a bridge between engineering leaders and business executives.
With extensive experience in managing complex technical programs and leading global teams in engineering management, I recognized a critical gap in the seamless integration of technical research, academic business research, and practical industry applications. My goal is to acquire the skills to close this gap, facilitating better communication and collaboration between these spheres. By doing so, I aim to enhance my ability to consult and lead in environments that demand both technical acumen and business strategy. I also considered the DBA program as an opportunity to build relationships, network, and partner with industry experts who embark on the same business doctorate journey.
Lifelong learning and continuous education have always been something I enjoy. The DBA program presents an opportunity to blend my technical background with advanced business insights, allowing me to focus on applying technical concepts to solve real business and sociotechnical needs. This combination will help me guide organizations in transforming technical capabilities into strategic advantages.
Additionally, my experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate students has shown me the value of bridging these two worlds. Research on the rapid adoption of AI and its growing application also played a role in my decision. I want to dive deep into AI from a business perspective to fully understand its impact and potential.
This new academic endeavor will not only enrich my consulting capabilities but also ensure I remain at the forefront of bridging the gap between research and practice in the evolving landscape of emerging technology and business.
