From Dania Beach to Vero Beach
Welcome to another episode of the Florida Beer Podcast, as we prepare for another festival! This time it's the renown FemAle Brew Fest on March 21st. This one is notable as it only allows breweries with female ownership or female staff on the brewing team. Much to my delight, this festival has been growing in size for the past few years, and is now going to be held at the brand new Dania Point. We spoke to festival organizer Frances Antonio-Martineau about the history of the event and what to expect.
We then spend most of our time in the delightful Vero Beach at the mettled and storied Walking Tree Brewery. I've written about them before, and it's funny to see how things have grown there. Literally, as the mangrove tree I saw on my initial visit is much, much larger now. I sat down with Co-founder and head brewer Mike Malone and his wife, Creative Director Brooke Malone to talk about the history of Walking Tree so far, craft beer in Vero Beach, and an awesome collaboration they just did with their local newspaper.
