FTMP S2 E26 Season Finale ft Martin Raymond (Mice)

Wrapping up Season 2, we had the privilege to have one of the most eye, and ear opening discussions with Mr. Martin 'Mice' Raymond.

To wrap up Season two, we found it most appropriate to reach out to two of Trinidad's best! As you saw in Wednesday's episode, we spoke with Advokit Productions on his experiences and what he would like to see changed in the industry. So, for today's episode we reached out to the legendary Martin Raymond aka Mice. Mice has been leading Trinidad's audio engineering and production scenes with his mixing and mastering studio Champion Sounds Studio. His accolades are inclusive of lending his engineering skills to projects for US acts Sean “P. Diddy ” Combs, Notorious B.I.G. Aaliyah, Wyclef Jean, as well as British stars Sir Cliff Richard, Gerry Rafferty and Right Said Fred.

What would you say was 'that song' that is considered an 'audio engineering masterpiece' that stuck with you for life?

“I Feel Love” - Donna Summer. Not so much from an engineering perspective, more from a production perspective. That record turned me onto synthesisers for life!

Engineer & Producer

British-born Martin Raymond migrated to Trinidad at an early age and began playing music at age nine. His first instruments were the piano and organ, but he switched to the guitar at age 14. In London, Martin studied music production and digital audio and lent his skill to many artists during the emerging UK Hip-Hop / Dance scene in the 1990’s. During a 5-year stint at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts he did music arrangement/direction for academy productions and also engineered projects for clients such as CBS/Sony, Polydor, and Channel 4 Television.

Martin returned to Trinidad in 1996, working at Caribbean Sound Basin Studios and also at Eddy Grant’s Blue Wave Studios in Barbados. He co-produced tracks with top R&B producer Teddy Riley and did remixes for various artists including the legendary David Bowie. He also lent his engineering skills to projects for US acts Sean “P.
