Nick Carter pays a visit to his current main suspect Kate Crandall to see if she can incriminate herself as to the disappearance of the Reverend Austin Maybrick. What does she know, and how much is she willing to spill?
Nick's investigation has led him to believe that Kate Crandall may be involved in Maybrick's disappearance, but he needs more evidence to prove it. He hopes that by confronting her, she will slip up and reveal something incriminating.
Kate is a clever woman, though, and she is not easily intimidated. She denies any involvement in Maybrick's disappearance, and she even manages to turn the tables on Nick, questioning his motives and challenging his authority.
Nick is left frustrated and uncertain. Is Kate Crandall really telling the truth? Or is she just a very good liar?
