CEO and Founder
I'm Mat, the founder & CEO of Marble, a company that provides maritime monitoring using fleets of high speed drones. I come from a family of aviators and skydivers, who got me hooked on aerospace when I was 2, sitting on top of a pillow stack as the copilot of a small plane.
I spent my aerospace engineering studies obsessing about the future of aviation, from flying wings to hydrogen aircraft - spending dangerously more time on my personal projects than on lectures. It kept going once I was an engineer at Airbus, having no bedroom but a mattress in a workshop, building aircraft myself and eventually with a team of colleagues. It got me speaking globally about 3D printing drones, and joining the secretive "Future Projects Office" of Airbus.
My drive for change quickly outgrew the constraints of a large multinational, and my side projects turned into a company as I joined Entrepreneur First in 2016. Over the past 8 years we've been secretly building our technology to make drones suitable for large scale deployments at sea. Making them fast, durable and affordable enough to provide monitoring that is desperately needed, from checking protected areas to monitoring windfarms.
In this episode of the Futurized podcast, host Trond Arne Undheim interviews Mathieu Johnsson, CEO & founder of Marble, a drone startup specializing in marine drone monitoring. They discuss the the implications of wanting to monitor the maritime...
