LOVE IN THE TIME OF COVID: Thanks to COVID-19, Melanie and Alan are down on their luck. They have 86 bucks in their bank account, their rent is due, and neither has a job. They argue in front of Anthony’s Italian Cuisine, a restaurant that needs a dishwasher. Melanie has a plan (sort of), but Alan resists.

Rick Davis is professor emeritus at Augusta University in Georgia. He has written six full
lengths plays, 13 children’s musicals, 23 one-acts. All have been performed, some in NYC,
some in LA, several in Europe, one in Australia, and the rest in theatres across the country.
More than half have won awards, and eleven have been published. Most recently, his one-
act, “Replacement Value,” won first prize in the 2021Porter Fleming Literary Festival.
“Love in the Time of Covid” won third in the same festival. “Replacement …” was
subsequently produced at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano, California.
Also, Storyland Theatre, an adult troupe that performs for kids, created animated versions
of his children’s musicals, “Humphrey Clinker Gets His Wish” and “The Emperor’s New
Clothes,” both of which are currently running on YouTube.
