Eric (he/him/his) is an Emmy Award-Winning TV Journalist, Retired Army Officer, current PR professional and Dramatist Guild member who is continuing his passion for storytelling through playwriting and other creative outlets.
Latest Awards: The Kennedy Center recently recognized Eric with the Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award - Second Place - for his original full-length play, BARON OF BROWN STREET, which is inspired by the true story of a homeless man's struggle with forgiveness after surviving an attack in which he was intentionally set on fire. This play opens in September via Rubber City Theatre in Akron, OH.
Latest news: Eric's one-act family drama, HOME MOVIE, recently completed a one-weekend run at Convergence-Continuum in Cleveland, and his full-length gritty story of forgiveness, BARON OF BROWN STREET, opens in the black box at the University of Akron in September via support from Rubber City Theatre.
Eric is seeking development opportunities for his current Work in Progress, TRIAL BY FIRE, which chronicles a young teacher who is put on trial for allowing her students to read banned books; the first 20 pages is available to review here on NPX.
Eric's first full-length play, LOVE IN RESERVE, debuted on Nov. 5, 2021, as a mainstage Equity production at Rubber City Theatre in Akron, Ohio. Rick Davis is professor emeritus at Augusta University in Georgia. He has written six full
lengths plays, 13 children’s musicals, 23 one-acts. All have been performed, some in NYC,
some in LA, several in Europe, one in Australia, and the rest in theatres across the country.
More than half have won awards, and eleven have been published. Most recently, his one-
act, “Replacement Value,” won first prize in the 2021Porter Fleming Literary Festival.
“Love in the Time of Covid” won third in the same festival. “Replacement …” was
subsequently produced at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano, California.
Also, Storyland Theatre, an adult troupe that performs for kids, created animated versions
of his children’s musicals, “Humphrey Clinker Gets His Wish” and “The Emperor’s New
Clothes,” both of which are currently running on YouTube.
