Imagine standing on the edge of a vast, green expanse, sun shining down on your face as you prepare to take your first swing.
Golf, more than any other sport, has a unique relationship with nature and the land it occupies.
But here's a thought from John Erickson: how much space is too much space?
In a world where we're becoming increasingly conscious of our environmental footprint, the size of golf courses is an issue that warrants some discussion.
Sure, golf is a game of precision and skill, but does it really need to commandeer a minimum of 150 acres of land?
Take a minute to consider the intricate design of a golf course - the strategic bunkering, the carefully shaped greens - all designed with the trajectory of your shots in mind.
Maybe it's time we started focusing more on the artistry of the game and less on the size of the playing field.
