Golf's early days in America is a story of opportunity and ambition, of a sport finding its footing in a new land.
According to Kevin Kenny, many of the top players hailed from Britain, particularly Scotland.
Interestingly, having a Scottish accent was seen as an advantage during this period. It was almost as if the "Scotch Brogue" was a stamp of authenticity, a signal that you knew your stuff when it came to golf.
It's always good to know how a sport we all love came to be!
