Do you tend to go bigger on your practice swing than on your actual swing?
This is a habit Dr. Joe Parent noticed that golfers do to get a feel for how the club moves through the grass.
However, this approach often leads to a subconscious reaction when it's time to hit the actual ball. The golfer, having practiced forceful swings, subconsciously fears sending the ball way over the green.
His advice? Practice swings as if you're aiming for the actual ball, intending to swing through the grass, and then reproduce that same swing when it's time to hit the ball.
This would lead to more effective and realistic swings.
