Often, we find redundancy in the commentary box, a mimicry where the color commentator is merely echoing the words of the play-by-play announcer, just with a slight twist.
This, as Matt Ginella pointed out, is a missed opportunity.
The color commentator is there to offer unique insights and experiences that the play-by-play announcer can't.
This is a reminder to all of us, not just in sports broadcasting but in every field, to bring our unique experiences and insights to the table.
