Hey everyone, happy Friday. I hope your morning or day or weekend whenever you're listening to this is going well. It is time for another Amy and Cat. I wanted to talk some today about seasons In my world. We have finally gotten some cooler weather, though the local meteorologist tell me it's going to be back up into the 90s next week, which I'm not super excited about, but right now it is cool and crisp and beautiful. The seasons, when they change, is a great reminder to do something different with our workouts. The technical term for that is called periodization, but it's basically just moving differently. Pete McCall, who, if you're a longtime listener, you may have met his general recommendation is to change your workouts up with the seasons. So what does that look like? Well, maybe you focus a bit more on strength training or yoga or changing what you do. Maybe it's something as simple as changing the type of weight you use when you do strength train. Instead of dumbbells, maybe you go more for the barbells or the machines or kettlebells whatever you have access to. Maybe you do bands or body weight. But just changing things up can make a huge difference. It's funny my husband is pretty consistent in the gym and a couple weeks ago he decided to do a complete body weight workout and it was super simple. So he just did a whole bunch of push ups, a whole bunch of pull ups, because he can do those and I can't and it was either like jump squats or box jumps or something like that, like some sort of air squats, I think he called them. I don't know any kind of some sort of squat. He was so sore, not because he was out of shape, but because it was different. So your body can really respond well to that. At the same time, I think we have to give ourselves the grace of understanding that we have different seasons in our life as well. We may be dealing with difficult family issues, job changes, moves, and when that happens, it's okay to change things up, it's okay to back it off If you are on a good trajectory and have a good trend going. That's what your body needs, and there's no use in stressing yourself out and getting all of the things done when you're already stressed out. So maybe, instead of working out, you just spend a few minutes breathing and paying attention to your breath in the morning. Or instead of worrying about I don't know like, even like the meal planning, maybe you just kind of back off and think, okay, I'm just not going to worry so much about this and I'm going to eat what I have, and it's not going to be a perfectly balanced meal, but there's not going to be any prep and there's not going to be any cleanup, and it's just going to make things easier for me. So I just encourage you to either create or embrace your season and really respond to what you need. On a completely different note, I would just like to give you a friendly reminder to get a mammogram if you have not had one recently. Last year I had to have a follow up because I had some asymmetry on my left breast. This year that asymmetry had turned into assist and it took well over a month between the time that I found out that I had assist to actually getting in and doing a follow up diagnostic and ultrasound. Excuse me, everything is fine, it's just assist. Apparently, they come and go, they ebb and flow, but that was not a fun waiting period for me. So if you haven't had a mammogram, just take the cut time and go do it. If you're in the States, you can get that for free. I'm pretty sure. I think that our legislation allows it for free. So that's two separate random things for you on this, amy and cut, but that's what this space is for. Thanks, as always, for being a wonderful, valued member of this community. I'm so grateful for you and I have not looked at the calendar before I got on here, but typically the second Thursday of every month is when we meet up. I would love to see you, whether or not you have been before or not, so I hope to see you then and I will send an email out confirming Also heads up. Today is the first Friday of the month, which means it's my first Friday journal and I'm going to try something new this month and I'm going to split it into every other week because I have so much to tell you that it will just overwhelm you if I may put it all in one email. So you're going to get to and I hope you tell me what you think of it, if you like it split up and in every other week or if you prefer it just once a month. So let me know whenever you get that. Have a good one, you guys. Bye, bye.
