Have Yourself A Creepy Little Christmas with Amanda Woomer

Have Yourself A Creepy Little Christmas with Amanda Woomer

Joining me today is guest Amanda Woomer as we explore her books : 'A Very Frightful Victorian Christmas,' and 'Krampus's Great Big Book of Yuletide Monsters.'

The idea of the holidays being a dark and frightening time is not a concept specific to the Victorian era. For centuries we have been sharing stories during the long, dark, winter nights as snow fell outside and fires burned low. In today's podcast we explore the challenge that winter posed and how some of these folk customs of the lower classes became a festive pastime as well as meeting some ghosts and goblins along the way....

Thank you for listening.
