S4E16: Does God Want Me To Be Happy or Holy?

Does God care if you’re happy at all? Is His goal to make you holy or happy? Does He care about your desires? Even the ones that won’t necessarily “sanctify” you? Am I an accidental Buddhist!? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. Kristina Garza & Mackenzie Ryder interviewed me about asceticism, which I lived in for a very long time. I essentially believed that the more I suffered, the holier I became.

Have you ever heard phrases like, "Don't pray for patience because then God will make you wait." or "God wants to make you holy, not happy."? These and more are phrases that misconstrue the character of God in our minds. It's very difficult to trust the person who you think is both harming and helping you.

And is it possible that your desires were placed in you by God for a reason? We seem to always want a "yes" or "no" answer from Him directly instead of just learning how to adult.
