I enjoyed listening to Carrie and her guests reminisce about their recent Rim to Rim to Rim run in the Grand Canyon, especially because I completed a South to North Rim to Rim hike in May 2017 (that was tough enough!). Hiking below the rim is an amazing experience, as they confirmed. Great job on the completion and the podcast!
One caveat, though: The South Kaibab Trail has NO water on it for about seven tough miles. If you're fast and can run it in about two hours, then you might not need more than two liters of water. However, for us slower folks, three liters is the safe amount to carry (and a bottle filled with electrolytes helps, too), especially if it's hot. You can then fill up at the start of the River Trail if you're doing Rim to River to Rim or at Phantom Ranch if you're going Rim to Rim(s). Good hiking, y’all!
