For this week's article, I wanted to switch it up and give you some names that can help your IDP Devy portfolios in the future. As we all know players graduate or leave for the NFL and it can be hard to find quality and youth at the same time. In IDP Devy the trick to contending year in and year out is being able to find players in their early years they will produce all the way through their senior year. Easier said than done but here are a few players that you can invest in now and will pay dividends for multiple years. These IDP devy stocks are not just long-term options, as they can help you win games this season as well. Let’s take a look at a group of cheap investment options that I have selected for you.
Travion Barnes, LB, Florida International (JR)
This week we start the IDP Devy Portfolio with junior linebacker Travion Barnes for Florida International. The Panthers have already played this week but don’t let that stop from seeing if Barnes is available in any of your leagues. Barnes is the current NCAA leader in both total tackles with 109, assisted tackles with 58, and ranks 2nd in solo tackles with 51. He also is the leader in TFLs (11) on the season for CUSA. Barnes just had his fifth consecutive game of ten plus tackles and now has topped that mark in seven of the nine games played this season. He is rostered in just 45% of Fantrax IDP Devy leagues, so there is a great chance he’s available in your leagues. Barnes has one year of eligibility left and should be a contender to lead the Nation in tackles again next season.
Trey White, EDGE, San Diego State (R-So)
For our next IDP Devy Portfolio investment, we have red-shirt sophomore EDGE Trey White of the SanDiego State Aztecs. White is the current NCAA leader in both sacks (11½) and TFLs (16). He recently had a streak of four consecutive games with at least 2½ TFLs and two sacks. The Aztecs have had a disappointing season (3-4) but White has been a major bright spot that they need and can build around. If you need help at the EDGE position, this is a guy that you definitely want to see if he’s available both on the waiver wire or trade opportunities. White has two more years of eligibility left, unless he decides to enter the NFL draft. He is surprisingly still available in some IDP Devy leagues as he’s rostered in just 88% of leagues on Fantrax. Huge upside player with NFL potential.
Koi Perich, SAF, Minnesota (T-Fr)
We continue the IDP Devy Portfolio with true freshman safety Koi Perich of the Minnesota Gophers. I got my first taste of Perich in the 2024 Under Armour All-American Bowl where he made a huge impact with one interception, blocking and recovering one punt, breaking up two passes, and recording one tackle for loss, as he was named the game’s MVP. It’s not often we see a true freshman make an impact at the college level as a true freshman, but when they do you have to take note. While the tackle numbers haven’t quite been there, his impact in coverage has been elite! Perich ranks 2nd in the NCAA in interceptions with five and that’s big points in fantasy. As an added bonus, Perich gives you points as a return man in leagues where that is rewarded. Perich is rostered in a low 54% of IDP Devy leagues on Fantrax, so make sure you check your leagues for his availability.
