In this week's IDP Devy portfolio I have three stars that you should be adding to your IDP Devy rosters. All three had big games last week and have very favorable matchups this week. Run and check your waiver wires now and add them, before it's too late and someone else does.
Bryce Gallagher, LB, Northwestern
If you need a solid weekly option at linebackers that can provide a good source of tackles, then look no further than Northwestern’s Bryce Gallagher. His 90 tackles last season were second on the team to Chris Bergin (132), a super senior. Gallagher is the leader of that defense now and he started the season off with a bang. In week zero, across the pond versus the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Gallagher recorded ten total tackles with nine of those being solos. In week two he’ll get to face the Duke Blue Devils, who ran it 35 times, in a 30-0 win over Temple. Northwestern wants to ground and pound both offensively and defensively. I look for Gallagher to have another big day tackle-wise this week and not just added to your IDP Devy portfolios but should be started in all leagues.
Lonnie Phelps, DE, Kansas
When you think of defensive ends you instantly think of TFLs and sacks, so when you can find one that gets a lot of tackles, it’s like a cheat code, especially if you can play them at DT in your fantasy leagues. That’s why you want to add Lonnie Phelps of the Kansas Jayhawks to you all of your IDP Devy portfolios. Phelps transferred from Miami(OH) where he led the team in sacks (8½) and was second in TFLs (13½) last year to Kansas this offseason. In his debut with the Jayhawks, Phelps had a monster performance versus FCS Tennessee Tech, where he led the team in tackles (7), solo tackles (6), TFLs (4), and sacks (3). He’ll have a much stiffer test this week as they travel to West Virginia.
Bentlee Sanders, CB, Nevada
This IDP devy portfolio add is more for those who play in position-specific leagues. In standard leagues, cornerbacks are a dime a dozen and are rarely worth adding over safeties, but Nevada’s Bentlee Sanders is worth considering. The sixth-year senior is already off to a better start this season than in any of his previous years. Through the first two games (Nevada played week zero) he has already produced ten tackles, seven solo tackles, two TFLs, one forced fumble, and three interceptions, with one being returned for a score. The Wolf Pack is off to a blazing 2-0 start and has a nice juicy matchup this week against FCS school Incarnate Word and I expect Sanders to have yet another nice game. Nevada plays in the MWC and long as they can play with the lead, Sanders will be worth adding to your IDP Devy Portfolios.
