Karl Brooks, DL, Bowling Green
This week we start the IDP Devy Portfolio with a name that even some of the most hardcore devy managers may not even know. Who is it you may ask? Well. it’s defensive lineman Karl Brooks of the Bowling Green Falcons. The super senior is off to a terrific start this season and building on what’s already a good college career. Brooks has some dual eligibility at DT or DE, so that’s a plus for those of you playing in position-specific leagues. Through five games this season, Green has recorded 17 total tackles, ten being solos, 6½ TFLs, 4½ sacks, two PBUs, and one fumble recovery. Now that Bowling Green has entered conference play (MAC), expect his numbers to trend up. Last week, for example, the Falcons played the Akron Zips, and Brooks had a monster game. He had a tally of seven total tackles, with four being solos, with 3½ TFLs. and 2½ sacks. Brooks is rostered in just 10% of Fantrax leagues, which is a 2.1% increase from the previous week. If you have a need for the position, Brooks is a great penny stock option for you to invest in, that will provide a decent return.
Jaylan Ford, LB, Texas
It amazes me that in leagues with even the most dedicated IDP fantasy managers, top-producing IDP devy stocks can be found on the waiver wire, even when they are a well-known name. A name that we have talked about on the Devi IDP Grind podcast, LB Jaylan Ford, of the Texas Longhorns, should be rostered everywhere but isn’t. The junior linebacker has been as dominant as anyone in the NCAA but is rostered in a measly 7% of Fantrax leagues. Mind-boggling to say the least. Ford leads the Big12 in total tackles (51) and ranks 7th in the NCAA in solo stops (31). He also has 4½ TFLs, one sack, and two forced fumbles on the season. Ford is having a breakout season and fantasy managers are missing out on a winning IDP Devy option. He recorded no stats in week one versus UL-Monroe but over the next four weeks, Ford has double-digit tackles in each game. Even with the bad first game, he’s averaging 10.25 tackles per game. Ford is the perfect investment that will make your IDP devy portfolio better. A low investment that is paying off huge dividends, get your shares now.
Trevor Woods, S, Colorado
It’s been a tough year so far for the Colorado Buffalo’s (0-5) and their defense especially. They are allowing 45.2 ppg and have fired the head coach. So why on earth would I be looking here for an IDP devy stock to buy? Well, go watch sophomore safety, Trevor Woods and you’ll see why he caught my attention. He’s averaging a tick over eight tackles per game and is coming off a 13 tackles, 12 solos, and one PBU performance against the Arizona Wildcats. Woods leads the Pac-12 in solo tackles (34) and ranks 2nd in the NCAA. He is rostered in just 2% of Fantrax leagues, which is way too low for a player producing the way he has. Just a sophomore means he could have eligibility for another three years. As I mentioned Colorado has been bad so that defense will be on the field a lot and Woods will get a ton of tackle opportunities. Woods is a penny-stock investment that is providing a very nice return right now and the long-term outlook is bright. Woods and the Buffalos are on a bye this week but grab him now as he’s a must-add for your IDP Devy portfolios.
