Ricky Villa's Banger against Wolves (Spurs - Wolves 1981)

In May 1981, Argentine midfielder Ricky Villa scored a spectacular goal in the Spurs' FA Cup Final replay win against Manchester City, a goal later named Wembley Stadium's 'Goal of the Century' at the turn of the millennium. This strike highlighted Villa’s quick footwork and close control as he maneuvered through City's defense. Just a month earlier, though, Villa had already scored another brilliant goal, this time in the FA Cup semi-final against the Wolverhampton Wanderers, helping the Spurs advance to the Wembley final. After a 2-2 draw at Hillsborough, the Spurs faced Wolves again in a replay at Highbury. Garth Crooks had already netted twice by halftime, putting the Spurs ahead. In the second half, Steve Archibald intercepted the ball at midfield and passed it to Crooks, who fed Villa on the right wing. Villa moved toward the center, about 25 yards from the goal, and instead of his usual skillful dribbling, he unleashed a powerful left-footed strike that soared into the top corner, giving the Spurs a 3-0 lead and securing their spot in the final at Wembley.
