Makeup Artist
From lisaeldridge.com
Lisa Eldridge is one of the world’s leading make-up artists. Her prodigious artistic instincts have made her indispensable to designers, editors, photographers, art directors and celebrities alike. Equally at home orchestrating her signature red carpet look - dewy, fresh and flawless - or conceiving avant-garde innovations for catwalk or editorial. Lisa is a make-up artist whose talent and vision have made her a top global creative force.
For Lisa, make up is more than mere glittering surfaces, it is an important signifier of the importance of both creativity and humanity. In October 2015, Lisa published her first book, Face Paint: The Story of Makeup, an accumulation of years of research into the history of makeup. The book quickly became a New York Times bestseller and is now published in nine languages. In tandem with her book, it is well known in the industry that Lisa is one of the leading collectors of vintage make up in the world, with a museum quality treasure trove of seminal, valuable and important pieces: for example, the lipstick holder that Cartier made for Audrey Hepburn in 1954. The collection informs both her creative work and her own brand.
Lisa has previously lived and worked in Paris, New York and LA, she is now based in London, working regularly with fashion photographers such as Nick Knight, Solve Sundsbo, Dan Beleiu, Hugo Comte and Mert and Marcus and her artistry frequently appears on the covers of international publications such as Vogue and Bazaar.
Her celebrity roster includes most of the A list - from Dua Lipa and Kate Winslet to Keira Knightley and Nicole Kidman and her fashion advertising and show credits include Gucci, Prada, Balmain, Jil Sander and many more.
Lisa is currently Global Creative Director of Lancôme (appointed in 2015), working across product development, advertising campaigns and digital strategy. She has previously held creative directorships, ambassadorial and product developmental roles for leading brands including Chanel, Shiseido and Boots No7. And after over 20 years of such roles Lisa’s knowledge of cosmetic chemistry is in-depth and comprehensive.
Lisa was an early adopter and disruptor in the digital sphere. In 2002 she became the first professional make-up artist to have her own dot com. In Dec 2010 she started broadcasting her celebrated You Tube tutorials which have had over 210 million views to date. She has developed a large, global online following, while maintaining a high editorial profile.
On her YouTube channel Lisa shares her knowledge and expertise with her loyal audience, who value her advice and recommendations. Lisa’s views are always her own. She self funds all her YouTube content and does not accept any sponsored or paid content or any payment to promote any products or brands. Since 2016 she has donated 100% of the YouTube advertising revenue (around £100,000) to charities that focus on female education and health.
Perhaps the next logical step in this roll call of achievements was for Lisa to create her own brand. In 2018 she launched a limited-edition capsule-collection of immaculate True Velvet Lipsticks. The reception was so enthusiastic they sold out in hours. Lisa has expanded the range of colours and formulae, following up with further launches in 2019 and 2020 and readers of Temptalia voted Lisa Eldridge the best Niche Beauty Brand of 2020. Her ground breaking new product ranges will be revealed in 2021.
