Jaime Leigh McIntosh was born in Cambridge, New Zealand. From an early age already knew that she wanted to be a hairstylist. This was confirmed years later after watching Sarah Kelly's behind the scenes documentary Full Tilt Boogie, about the making of the 1998s film From Dusk to Dawn. Jaime Leigh instantly fell in love with the colorful world of filmmaking.
Her first steps were to gain the necessary skills. After 4 years of a hair salon apprenticeship she enrolled in the Design and Arts College in Christchurch, New Zealand, to study Makeup Design & Production as the New Zealand film industry requires stylists to be skilled in both Hair & Makeup.
After college was completed, Jaime Leigh was offered her first job on a TV series called Insider's Guide to Happiness. From this small production she was hired as a Hair and Makeup Artist for background actors on the feature film King Kong (Director: Peter Jackson) where she received invaluable wig training under the guide of Peter Swords King. Jaime Leigh was a fast and inquisitive learner, and she enjoyed the huge variety of work, the constant challenges, deadlines and demands of the job. Jaime Leigh rose to each occasion.
The next decade was filled with dedication to the craft, and Jaime Leigh's skill set grew. Projects of note included The Hobbit Trilogy (Director: Peter Jackson) and Avatar (Director: James Cameron), both under the guidance and teaching of Hair & Makeup Supervisor/Designer Rick Findlater.
In 2013 Jaime Leigh emigrated to Los Angeles, USA, and shortl… Read More
