TORONTO - Award-winning inspirational speaker and mental health expert Catherine Clark has made it her mission to shed light on the mental health crisis for World Mental Health Day.
Her new book, Gifts In Dark Packages, provides readers with an easy-to-use mental health resiliency roadmap to help readers emerge from dark times and realize how resilient they truly are, leaving dark moments behind to live a better life.
According to the World Health Organization, around 450 million people struggle with mental illness, making it the leading cause of disability worldwide. One person dies by suicide every 40 seconds. In Canada alone, one in two people will experience a mental disorder before the age of 40 (CAMH).
The book shares personal experiences with trauma and relatable case studies to clearly illustrate how using these actions can channel adversity into resiliency, where you ‘feel it all, to heal it all’.
