Quotes:
We have a new favorite toy in our house and it's a shopping cart coming up. I'm going to tell you what I learned from my son and his shopping cart.
My son has recently learned how to walk. And what he loves to do is run around. So we gave him a shopping cart, you know, the one, the little kids' shopping cart that they can push around that has a seat for their doll. He loves it. He runs around the house in circles, finding things to put in his basket.
He loves his shopping cart. He goes around and around and around in a circle. He also loves to gently put his bear in this. And give it a kiss. And while I was watching him do this recently, it occurred. The children are watching us as he gently put the bear in and gave it a kiss and a hug. I realized he was mimicking me because that's what I do to him.
When I put him in the shopping cart. Yes, they're watching and they're getting guidance on how to do life from us. They learn how to approach task. They learn how to navigate the world and they do it all by watching he's practicing for life. He's learning how to love others. Our children are watching us all the time.
And that for me was a good reminder that we need to pay attention to the cues that we give them. We need to be more aware of what our actions say and how our words make others feel because they are watching and they're mimicking and they're learning how to be human. I spend a lot more time watching what I'm doing now that I'm aware that he's mimicking everything that I do.
And for now I'm enjoying watching him push his cart around, give the bear a kiss and navigate his own world. That moment was for you. Now go make someone else's day.
