That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody, and welcome to another episode. We've made it to Thursday. I know Christmas is over, but it doesn't have to be over. You can still keep Christmas alive for a long, long time. In fact, I don't know what you do, but I don't like to take my Christmas decorations off till the end of the year because sometimes Christmas comes and it feels like it just came and now it's gone. And so I encourage you keep your decor up for a while so you still feel like Christmas is alive. So let's get back into our devo today. And today I'm going to be reading from Luke 2, 39, 52, and it is going to be a couple of verses. So if you have some coffee or some tea or whatever it is that you like, grab it and grab your Bible and let's read this story together because it's such a beautiful story to read and I know that you guys are going to be happy that this is the story we read today. And verse 39 says, and when they had performed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong.
00:01:39.938 --> 00:01:54.322
And that's talking about Jesus, filled with wisdom and the favor of God was upon him. Now, his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was 12 years old, they went up according to custom.
00:01:54.506 --> 00:02:13.030
And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the group, they went a day's journey. But then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
00:02:13.370 --> 00:02:24.925
And when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. After three days, they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
00:02:25.038 --> 00:03:10.310
And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his awareness. And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress. And he said to them, why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house? And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
00:03:10.819 --> 00:03:51.581
This is such a beautiful story. And now that I am a mom, I cannot imagine losing my son for three days. I don't know what I would do. But it was so beautiful that as. As they're looking for him and they're super stressed, they find him in the temple. And there Jesus is just being awesome, as we know Jesus was. And I cannot imagine what that might have felt as a parent or just finding your child in the temple, but you still being like happy that you were there, he was there, but also like super mad because you're like, you, we couldn't. We couldn't find you. And how scary that might have been.
00:03:51.765 --> 00:04:53.910
But I really love even how at the end it says that Jesus was submissive to them. And even Jesus was submissive to his parents, his earthly parents that God gave him at the time. And even though he could do so many things and we knew who he was, he still decided to lead by example and to be submissive to his parents. And I love that because of that. It says to Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and favor with God. So if we can take anything from this story is that as long as we're submissive to God's plan, and God, he will really bless us. I hope this story blessed you today. So let's pray. Dear Father God, thank you for your word. Thank you for writing all these things for us to read and to learn more about you, Father. These stories allow us to get to know you more and to know you in a deep personal level. And so we just thank you again for Jesus. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
