You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1134. Today's Devo is called Sing Unto the Lord. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.600 --> 00:00:50.652
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, happy Thursday, everybody. We are back with a great devo today and we've been focusing all week on giving praise to God and acknowledging him for who he is and, and just thanking him for all he's done. Because we're in the season of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I cannot believe we're actually in November.

00:00:50.829 --> 00:00:54.662
Who let this happen, happen? But we're here, we made it.

00:00:54.719 --> 00:02:04.643
And what we're doing on the devo is we're just kind of setting up our lives, our even our spirits and our hearts in this season of thanksgiving. And it's just a great time in our devotional in our one on one time with the Lord to acknowledge him and praise him. And today we're going to be reading from Psalm 33. And I love this passage of scripture because it's talking about singing. And I think you guys have picked up this week, maybe learned something new about me that I love music and I love to sing. Our whole family, we're all singers and we all lead worship at our church. So this theme of singing joyfully to the Lord is something that's near and dear to my heart. And whether you like to sing or not, whether you are a shower singer or you are a worship leader at your church, whatever side of the spectrum you are on, I think that this is a something that all of us as believers should be doing when it comes to praising God. So let's read this Psalm 33. It says this. Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous. It is fitting for the upright to praise him. You can just underline that right there. It is fitting for the upright to praise him. It's almost like it's a mandate.

00:02:04.698 --> 00:03:56.655
It's on us. It works for you. Like when those genes just fit, it just makes sense. When we worship God, praise the Lord with the harp. Make music to him on the ten stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully and shout for joy. For the word of the Lord is right and true. He is faithful in all he does. So, yes, today's going to be about singing. How can you sing to the Lord today if you're in the car right now and you're on your way to work and you're listening to this devo? Then right after this devo, find your favorite song that's about God, a worship song that's acknowledging him, and sing until your lungs give out. Have a moment with the Lord where it's just you and him that you're singing. If your kids are in the back of the car, tell them all to sing with you. That was something we did when we were kids. My mom would give us all a harmony and she'd say, 1, 2, 3, sing. And it probably sounded like cats trying to get together. And it was awful. But, hey, we were doing it unto the Lord. If you're going to church today or if you are doing anything, if you're at work and you're going to go to lunch, have a moment where you go to the bathroom and just sing unto the Lord. You know why I think it's beautiful when we sing to Him. Even if you're not musical, singing is a very vulnerable thing. When you have a moment with God or when you have a moment anywhere where you're having to sing and sing along to a melody and you don't know how to sing, it can be very embarrassing. It's a very humbling experience. But it's a vulnerable moment that we can have with the Lord where we can sing to him and we can praise him for what he's done. And I'm not saying that, you know, you have to sing in order to praise God, but I think it's a beautiful thing when we do praise him, and we do it with song and we do it with melody and we do it with instruments.

00:03:57.175 --> 00:04:53.855
If you are a musician or a singer and you play for your church, or you don't, whatever you do and you're a musician, I want to encourage you. Make sure you are making music. You're playing music first to the Lord. Do it in the name of Jesus, and make sure you prioritize that you can play gigs. That's beautiful because God's going to honor you for that. And God's going to put you in rooms and anoint you for those moments. Man, our producer is anointed for that. He's in the room right now. He is anointed for those environments. But what he is really anointed for is when he is in a room with believers leading us into worship with his piano. But that's because he uses it to honor God and play for the Lord to sing unto him. To use it to play with melody and with music. Because we're honoring God with our song. We're honoring God with everything that he's given us. So sing joyfully to the Lord today. It's fitting for us. It's fitting for the upright to praise him. And here's why we sing to God. You ready?

00:04:53.935 --> 00:05:16.404
Verse 9. For he spoke and it came to be. He commanded and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations. He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever. The purposes of his heart through all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. The people he chose for his inheritance.

00:05:16.704 --> 00:05:38.752
That right there is something to sing about. So I encourage you change your playlist today. Make today's music that you listen to only worship music. Sing in your car, sing in the shower, sing with your friends, whatever it is. But sing a new song to the Lord today and praise his name. Sing unto the Lord. Make a joyful noise.

00:05:38.889 --> 00:05:49.942
Lord, we just thank you for today. We bless your name. I'm doing everything right now, God, not to sing right now on this show. But we just thank you for it, Father. And we bless you. We praise you.

00:05:50.038 --> 00:05:57.134
I pray that you would give us songs to sing today. New songs that can come to our hearts whether we're musicians or not, whether we're singers or not.

00:05:57.175 --> 00:06:23.235
Lord, we lift up a song of praise to you in Jesus name. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
