You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1166. Today's Devote is called the Visit of the Wise Men. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning everybody, and welcome to another week of My Morning Devotional. My name is Rachelle Lessie and I get the privilege of being with you this week. And we know that this week is very special because it's Christmas week. And I hope that you guys are having a great time with your families. I want to approach this week a little bit different because I know you might not be listening to me from your car because it's Christmas week. You probably are in your house or somewhere nice with your family. And so I wanted to approach it in a way where I'm basically just reading you the stories that we find in the Bible.

00:01:02.551 --> 00:02:35.039
And if you have your Bible with you, open up your Bible, let's read together, let's meditate on these beautiful stories. And I promise you that it's going to touch your heart because the stories of Jesus are so powerful. Today I'm going to be reading from Matthew 2, and it says now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the King, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, where is he who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him. When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him, and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him in Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet. And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah. For from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel. Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, go and search for the child. And when you have found him, bring me word that I too may come and worship him. After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when they arose went before them until it came to rest. Over the place where the child was born.

00:02:35.460 --> 00:02:53.554
When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary and his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening up their treasure, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

00:02:53.681 --> 00:03:08.647
And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country. By another way, I really love that last verses and I love when it says that when they saw the child, they fell down and worshiped him.

00:03:08.834 --> 00:04:12.605
These men had been walking for who knows how long, how many miles, but they had a mission. And they knew that their mission was to find the baby Jesus and to bring them gifts. And when they got there, they couldn't do anything but just like worship. And that just really encouraged me and touched my heart to approach this week the same way. The Lord gave us a gift, and that gift was Jesus. And our job now in return is to really worship him. Because we have beautiful families, beautiful friends, we have a beautiful life because of the gift of Jesus. So guys, I encourage you this week, as amazing as Christmas is, to not forget at some moments of your day to truly worship the Lord. So let's pray. Father God, thank you for the gift that you gave us when you sent your son Jesus to this earth to give us a beautiful life. And because of him we get to have a beautiful time with family this week. And we will not forget what you've done and we will not forget to worship you in the midst of it.

00:04:12.758 --> 00:04:40.459
So Father, we thank you and we worship you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend. Leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
