Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue talking about your heart this week. And in the last episode, episode four to four, I shared seven things that your heart does all day long each and every day in order to keep your health and wellness at optimal levels. And the reason I'm doing this series is so that you understand this. So you can also be working with your heart and not against your heart in it, keeping your health at optimal levels. So if you didn't hear that episode, go back and listen to it. Because today I'm sharing three more functions that your heart performs that you may not be aware of. I know certainly, when I started learning all of this, these were things that I didn't realize the heart was responsible for. And so I want to share them with you as you gain perhaps greater respect for your heart and therefore choose to take better care of it. So the first one is that it's partially responsible for removing waste products, we know that our liver and our kidneys, which I talk about a lot our detoxifying organs, however, the heart gets involved as well, it helps to clear toxins by removing metabolic waste like carbon dioxide from the tissues by transporting it to the lungs, the liver and the kidneys for elimination. And I had never really thought about that. In that way before. However, that is a another detoxifying process of the body. Your heart also gets involved in circulating hormones. So it is supporting your endocrine system. And it helps to circulate the hormone hormones throughout the body, which then regulates various other physiological processes. And again, the heart and the hormones I never really connected, that the heart was helping support this process. And the more I learned, the more I realized how truly intricately interconnected our body is. And when we're looking at our wellness, we need to look at the whole body and not just single organs, because each organ does have downline effects on other organs. The heart also is involved in facilitating digestion. And that's because it is responsible, responsible for blood supply to our organs. And so as it provides a steady blood supply to the digestive organs, it's enabling them to function more effectively in breaking down our food and absorbing our nutrients. And so, again, with this intricate connection between all of our organs, it is vitally important that we are looking at our overall wellness, when we have symptoms and are struggling to figure out what is going on with our health, and that we're not just looking at one organ at a time because each organ does impact other organs in our body. And our heart, of course is so vitally important and responsible for so many aspects of our health that I do encourage you to give it greater respect, make sure that you are caring for it so that it can thrive and therefore support your overall health and wellness. So join me again for episode 426 When I will be sharing with you the simple ways that you can adjust your daily lifestyle in order to be supporting your heart health at an optimal level. So join me next time and we'll dive into that topic.
