It has been my experience as a doctor, that there is little to no guidance within the medical establishment for patients who want to explore non pharmaceutical options to manage or support their health.
Alternative health practitioners are dismissed and disrespected - seen as non evidence based, unregulated and exploitative.
These opinions are generally formed through ignorance and dare I say arrogance, because doctors are never taught about non pharmaceutical options. They are trained in medicine - pharmaceuticals - and this is the approach they have been trained to believe is the only way to manage illness.
And don’t get me wrong. There is a place for drugs in disease.
But from my 16 years of experience working A+E, I can see there are many people that need more help than medicine can offer them. We need to embrace alternative perspectives and approaches which get to the root of our symptoms which our current healthcare system fails to address.
This is why I wanted to set up a curated community of trusted holistic healers - The Witchy Women - allowing us to learn what they do, how their healing modality works, who they are here to serve, and how they are regulated - to give us all the knowledge and confidence to approach alternative practitioners.
And today I want to introduce you to - Oracle & Sage. An organisation dedicated to funding holistic healing to those who otherwise would not be able to access it.
Holistic healthcare is largely not covered by the NHS here in the UK, which means patients have to pay for it and there are all sorts of reasons why this may not be possible for patients at any particular time.
